Seems impossible in operation. I see it but there is no physical way for the cans to hold water the way the wheel turns. Then they dump water out of the bottom of the can? Makes zero sense.

I'm not sure what your looking at.. The cans are being filled and they have a bottom... it's when the water pours over the outside of the can that makes it look like no bottom and going straight through... When the cans start coming out of the tub of water (upside down) is when they empty back into the tub... Just using a pump in the tub to recirculate and fill ( looks to be about half full) the cans ...

Oh, I see the water hose in the first one now, I missed that hose filling the cans.

Like the ingenuity, but with the time spent building the thing, a roti motor probably would have worked out cheaper.

This is an interesting concept, but as Doug said, in the time it'd take me to build it, I'd probably just say it's cheaper to buy a motor. Though my pride would take me through to the end, then I'll have two haha.

This would be a multiday build for me.
I counted 12 empty Furphy cans on the wheel. Buuurp! There goes day 1
I like it... I imagine you adjust water for speed ...
...
Water flow and having the bottom cans drag thru water in the tub works as a speed brake.

I don't think it's about price... More so the creativity, The conversation piece ...
Same as your tractor RF offset?
