I saw this on FB (credited to Aaron Franklin) and it intrigued me. Set up a 2 zone cook on the Weber Kettle by dividing it with a piece of smoke wood. Cherry in my case....

Guess we'll see the results.

I have seen it done by a family member that swore by it, never tried it myself.
 
The potatoes are on now. Running at 500° with the bottom vent wheel just barely cracked...

I think it'll work. These spuds will be crispy outside, like butter inside!
