We bought a lot of strawberries since the ones at our local store are the sweetest they have had in 10 years.
Consequently, need space additional in the freeze, so took out a turkey.
Every November we buy 2 turkeys since they are cheap (me too), one goes in freezer.

So today is turkey day. Stay tuned for more pics...

Honestly, I think turkey is under utilized. I like it better than chicken and smoke them up a few times a year. I pull the leftovers off the bone vac seal and freeze for quick easy meals down the road.
Right after TG I'll grab a whole bird for later but I'll stock up on the bone-in breasts as I can fit several in the freezer and I can fit two into the MES or my 14.5" WSM and do the same with the meat.

Yup, most of the this one will end up vac sealed and in the freezer.

I have a whole chicken in Pop's brine I hoping to spin if the storms don't stop me . Thinking stuffing and mashed taters .

I have 1 whole turkey in the freezer . I'm thinking it's destined for the grinder .

Looks like a nice start for you . I'll be watching .

One year at TG, I found bone-in breasts for $.99 lb. I bought 9 of them and smoked them all in my fridge conversion, then froze. Gave most of them out as Xmas gifts to the in-laws.

Here we go...

Meal consists of the turkey, mashed taters & gravy, Cowboy Caviar, and dessert.
If anyone (that hasn't seen it already), wants the Cowboy Caviar recipe, it is here --> Cowboy Caviar.
There are variations on the site.

Turkey was brined overnight., and butter/poultry seasoning rubbed under breast skin.

I was worried the thighs and wings would be dry as their temp climbed really quick.
Wrapped them in foil and they were very moist, ever though in the 180's.
Usually the other way around and foil the breast.
Pulled when breast was 162f.

Whole meal was delicious.
I may have to rethink putting most of the turkey in the freezer.

Ready to come out:

Not my carving knife, but I love this one. Oldest son gave it to me for Christmas.
It is vewy, vewy, vewy sharp. (my Elmer Fudd impression).

Strawberry Trifle. Found it on the back of the cardboard insert in the lid of the Cool whip container.
I strayed from the recipe and just made individual servings.
Recipe makes a whole pan, double layer.
Consists of Angel food cake on bottom, than layer of the vanilla pudding/cool whip combo, then strawberries, and topped with cool Whip.
Next time (and there will be), I will put the strawberries on the cake so the juice soaks in.
On top of the pudding they want to slide off.
