I am sitting on my patio next to my new Masterbuilt Electric Smoker. It's about 80 degrees and sipping a cold one. Just made the wife the most delicious Chef's salad with organic baby greans from Sam's, topped with smoked pork loin, eggs, cukes, radishes, tomatoes, and some spices, and finally finished with Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Balsamic vinegar.

Here is the problem.

I have a 1/2 pork loin, 2 Fattys, huge bowl of smoked beans, in the fridge since last Thursday. There are only 2 of us and we can't eat fast enough. Full briskit waiting to be smoked.

So the question is this.

Has anyone EVER smoked nothing? I was thinking of just firing it up so I could smell that great aroma.

I mean am I losing it or what.

Time for another brew I guess. Maybe there is a drug? If so, what is it called? I need some.

I want to SMOKE!!

Yep, you's crazy! If I was in NM, would it be crazy for me to sit on your porch, share a cold one with you and smell your empty smoker? Maybe you ain't crazy. Or maybe I am, cause it sounds like a great evening! Heck, I burn logs in the firebowl, and it doesn't crank out the BBQ smell. You might be onto something!

Yes you are crazy.....but so are the rest of us.

Naa you ain't crazy-just a smokeaholic-theres nothing wrong with a dry smoke to make sure u have the TBS going like it should-my smokers smell just fine with or without being fired up-but I do understand your pain-the question is what can't u smoke?and how full is the freezer?well guy's we have another hooked!

I hear ya Ron. I "just today" fired up my Masterbuilt for the first time for seasoning. My neighbor was over within about 5 minutes, drink in hand & a beer for me. He hung around for about 25 minutes, until his wife came looking for him!.......There is just something about the smell of smoke, be it a smoker, bbq, campfire, etc. ....There really is nothing else like it........

You my friends are addicts, there is no known cure. Welcome to the club,
fire up the smoker, throw on a chunk of something, grab a cold barley pop and invite all your friends.

Never ever have I smoked empty!!!!!!!!!!! I belong to couple car clubs and forums and have neighbors...I'd just post up that I'm gonna fire the smoker up and need some stuff to put in!!......spread the word ...if they'll bring it, you'll smoke it and you'll be amazed how many friends with cold brew will show up! I've even done it when I had room in the smoker for more. Best turkey I ever had was when a shoulder was sitting on the rack above it dripping on top of the turkey the whole time it was smoking!!
ex.
"I'm off this weekend and have to many leftovers to cook anything but want to smell the smoker so I'm firing that baby up at ***Xhrs and if ya got anything to put in there, bring it over!!! Bring a chair and BYOB if you like or I'll tell ya when to come back and get it..depending on what it is."

have even got donations of charcoal and wood for my efforts. Share that smoke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It got the best of me last night and I fired it up a threw in a chunk. A few cold ones and turned it off, man that smell was good. Maybe next time I should get a bag of marshmellows. I forgot, I don't eat sugar anymore. Oh well, next time.

This is called "seasoning the patio" or the yard, or wherever your place of enjoyinfg a beverage while normally smoking.

This is not crazy.

If you lit up a chunk of hickory in your basement rec room, yeah, that would be crazy

Crazy yes.. we are all crazy. As for lighting up the smoker... do it. We start a fire in ours sometime just to, as I like to say (burn it off). So go lite that bad boy up!
