Taylor 1470 Fix

So I have one of these digitals. It's only lasted a few months now. Where the wire connects to the probe it has frayed. There are two wires I can see. One that is broke, one that is connected. If I cut the probe, then re-strip the wire and re-crimp, should I be fine? Anyone ever had to fix one of these?

I have fixed probes that the wire burned off....  If you have to, use a tubing cutter and and cut the probe to get to the wires... strip, solder and wrap with fiberglass electrical tape for high heat usage...   Or get a new probe for about $5.... or a new meter ....

YA what Dave said..........I have never heard of fiberglass electrical tape before now .I just looked it up on Amazon. Just the ticket for such a repair. A little pricey at $15 a roll but then you don't need much and a roll will last almost forever.

I would call Taylor and tell them my prob, and they should replace, you only had it a short time.

Same thing happen to me with my Maverick et-73, got a new probe in about 4 days,
