Is it a toco? I it a brat? I'll let you guys decide!

Taco Tuesday last night and we opted for something a little different. We have done this a few times and its really good.

Picked up some johnsonville chorizo brats. We usually make a bunch if chorizo to keep in the freezer but we didnt have any in casings . the johnsonville ones are very good!

I like to sous vide my brats now that I have the inkbird unit. Perfectly done and then all you need to do is throw on the grill to get some nice grill marks. I usually do mine at 155° for 1 hour.

Now I usually just top these with my usual taco style toppings. So I choped up some cilantro and onions

I like to slice them down the middle and put 1 half on a bun. This does two things. It opens up the meat so you can soak the inside with lime juice and it makes room for all the toppings. I made two like that. The other one I left whole and covered in nacho cheese and onion. The cheese it the typical velveta and rotel mix.

These were good! My youngest eate a whole brat cut up and dipped each piece in the cheese dip. Ive never seen him eat that fast ever!
Thanks for taking a look!

Dang Travis, that looks incredible. That plated shot is awesome. I'll take 3 brats with a side of Rolaids!

Thanks dave! The key here is to eat the rolaids as an appetizer....

YES! I have found this to be a very good process too! Love it
It's my go to way now. I'll do a bunch and only grill what I'm going to eat. The rest go into the fridge for later. It's also a great way for doing over a camp fire on a hot dog stick!

Wow Travis...both kinds look really good but I gotta opt for the one slathered with cheese. That just looks amazing. We are cheese junkies around here and that looks like cheese gravy so you know it's in my wheelhouse. Great job!!

Looks good Travis, I'm still not sure why you SV them instead of cooking them all the way on the grill, but I can't argue with success.

Point for sure

Thanks robert! We are also cheese junkies! I'll be honest I probably could have just dunked a hot dog bun it the cheese and been satisfied! Lol

Thanks Chris! I like doing them both ways. For me cooking them all the way on the grill is not a problem at all. I mostly use the SV as a time saver. I can do a bunch and throw in the fridge. Takes less than five minuts to grill them quick during the week night. The other reason I like doing them that way is for giving to other people. I didnt realize how many people can not properly cook a fresh brat. They either end up under cooked or jerky brats! Lol! So nowi when I make big batches of sausages and brats I'll cook them in the SV before vac packing and giving to friends and family. This way it's fool proof for them.

Nah, that'd just make a fondue appetizer. Ya gotta have the meats for it to be a meal. I can see you sitting there with a diced up hot dog bun, a big bowl of cheese in the middle of the table, your super long fork for dunking the buns in the cheese, and the pinky finger sticking up while nibbling on French cuisine. Sorry but the visual just isn't working for me....

Looks tasty Travis! I think I might have accidentally spilled that bowl of cheese over the other two also!

Thanks guys! They were both good but I agree with everyone. The cheese is where its on these. On a real taco though....ill go with the other toppings.
