Wondering how stove black "wood" work on a smoker grill? Haven't heard of anyone using it 'BUTT" if it works good on a wood heater why not a smoker? Anyone actually try it?
Thanks,

It has been so many years since I have heard that term I actually don't remember what it is. is it a paint?

Hey garyt, it's a liquid/paste?wax that is rubbed on.
Here is what I just found.
Restores unpainted cast iron and steel stoves and grills
Completely non-flammable and free of foul-smelling solvents
Unique formula uses only the highest-quality graphite and carbon black pigments.

So, doesn't look like it's made for painted surfaces. dang-it!

I wonder if it can be used on old DO's....

The stove black paste/polish I found are made by Meeco Mfg.

There are some polishes that appear to be for cast iron. These look like mostly waxes with probably carbon black pigments. Not recommended for exterior use and I would not use them on the inside of anything, since you don't know what is in them.

The do make some high temp paints that look tlike they would be usualble on a BBQ pit exterior.

I highly recommend Ceramic Header Paint . It is sold at many parts stores . Proper prep will make for great results .

Just my two cents worth

Ceramic header paint is expensive! @ $25 to $30 per 4 ounces, final cost would be 50 maybe 60 or more?? I'm leaning toward can paint and brush it on. Anybody used a brush lately?

Wrong , you buy Ceramic Header paint in spray cans at any good auto parts store for 8.99 a can . One can will do your grille .
