also the vent stack..

again thanks for a the future help

D, welcome.  The answer to all of those questions will be answered by the Pit Calculator.  The only one that will not is the Reverse Flow plate height.  It can be calculated using the Circle Calculator if you assume the area under it should be 1.5 times the Fire Box to Cook Chamber opening.  It takes a little math but it is not hard.  If you can't figure it out, some of us will be happy to do it for you.  But, at least, give it a shot first.  Remember to post lots of picks and as many details as you can.  That's how we all learn from each other!

ok thanks will do im hoping to be receiving the pipe tomorrow.. also can anyone help me figure out why I cant see the pics that other people put on the site I was trying to get ideas from other peoples build...

One other things is yalls idea on having the air flow vents on the fire box, ive been seeing them on the side of the boxes here lately never delt with them like that but thought it was a good idea what's ideas on that....

Some old threads have had the pics removed by outside picture storage areas upgrading their systems and the pics were lost in the upgrade... any particular threads you were looking at ???

The vents above the fire grate allow to adjust the air flow through the smoker without adding air to the fire... a good smoke on meat requires good air flow and minimal smoke....   The 2 vents are used together to balance the heat/smoke/airflow....

Sounds like a nice sized pit........ A lot of great advice and wisdom on this site...... Dave is one of the great ones, he will not steer you wrong......

Pipe is here finally have a welder coming Sunday for a quote.

have all my measurements and am already getting the plate and end caps and fire box being built this week.

more photos to come.

Thanks for all the help

and also thanks to all the future help

its a little bit bigger than I originally wanted but I wont complain about the price of it.. FREE

hoping to start on it this weekend don't know how much ill actually do the pit I don't have the best welding skills but I have a buddy that is willing to help out so Ill still take pics of it as he goes.

At 36" that thing is going to be a monster.  How long are you going to make it?  How big a fire box? Where is the fire box going to be placed?  This one will be interesting to watch.

The pit itself will be 6 ft with. 30x30 firebox and as of right now the fire box will be at the end of the pit. Give me y'all's ideas I'm open to everything the pipe was free was suppose to be smaller but gotta work with what's free

My 500 gallon tanks are 36 wide X 120 long.  I figure they can each serve about 350-400 rib plates.  You are going to be the go to guy in your area!!

well looks like I found the hook up on another piece of pipe should be getting it Saturday. going to be 30x72 this should be a lot better was kinda scared of that 36"

has anyone ever cooked on a rotisserie pit... got a couple buddies thinking of all throwing in some cash and building one.

well man sorry about the updates the project on the 36" got put on hold. i got my hands on a piece of 30"x5ft will be able to go pick it up monday.

the 36" will be cut in half and made into a rotisserie pit for the neighbor hood. hope can start on it pretty soon.
