Started my Schwenker Build

Finally got around to doing this.

Supplies were ordered, research is done, c'mon, its only a tripod.

Cut my expanded metal and will be doing some welding tonight.

I'll post a, "blow by blow" followed up with a more detailed post (Copy/Paste) from my website.

Picked up some flat steel to weld to the grate, don't want my meat ending up in the fire! Hopefully that can be done tonight.

Will you be doing traditional Schwenkbraten?

Trying to get a hold of some Franziskaner Weissbier - Spaten-Franziskaner-Bräu for the recipe I am working on.

I was going to do one similar to what you had linked in the other thread. It was going to be a very basic one. I am going to back burner it for now. Two of my kids had minor car accidents and need to helpnthem now, so money a little tight. But I can build one for about $50, so I will do one later.

sorry to hear that I hope all is well.
Dam kids... I was on my way to do a Solo 10 mile section hike of batona trail and on the way to the trailhead we get a call that my Daughter apparently she was kicked in the head by a football player the night before and has been vomiting all day needless to say I spent the day in the ER.
She's still out of school for another week on brain rest. BTW it was an accident.

If I can sell my wife on a fire pit, I thinkni will be able to make one sooner than I was planning.

Really no need for a firepit, unless you want one.

You can simply use a charcoal grill bottom or similar, trashpicking can be a wonderful resource.

Other options, an old rim, washing machine tub, rounded part of a propane or air tank, Wheel Barrow, cut down metal drum, nothing. but they all look GHETTO, lol, sort of like my pit last year, I was too lazy to put the bricks around, every summer this pit is removed and I put an 18' pool in its place.

Got a little time last night to play with my Schwenker

Cleaned up the welds a tad.

• Holes were drilled, countersunk and quick links we added.

• Taking measurements for the chain using some electrical wire.

For the fire pit we have the end cap from some type of tank I was planning on using. Was also thinking of trimming it out with some type of brick or rock. We shall see, money just got very tight. They say things happen in 3's. Well we had our 3rd accident yesterday. I was towing a trailer to the gathering and it popped off the hitch and the hitch went through the front of it. So we should be done?

I cant wait to build one of these though, so in the mean time I will have to live through your build....

I wouldn't leave the house till the black cloud passes.
