Hi Shelby!  Your avatar reminded me of cooking chicken on a hot engine block....lol!  Yes I have done that!  I am new here to these forums but got my first smoker about 3 years ago.  I basically used Jeff's site for my beginner's course.  There is a ton of good easy to find info there.  One thing I can attest to is practice makes perfect in regards to smoking.  Read up as much as you can as you venture into this world of culinary bliss so you get the best results from the meat you buy.
