Hello everybody and thanks for the great forum! English is not my native language so bare with me. I used Feldon's BBQ Pit Builder Calculator and material is all stainless steel.

I have been building my first smoker for couples of years and hopefully i get it done soon. Unfortunately i lost some pictures but not all of them. I will add more pictures as the build progress. Firebox build pictures are gone.

I start with piece of of 3mm sheet and my friend rolled it into the shape of the cylinder at work

The ends were cut with a laser and are 5mm thick

I noticed one problem. The tube and the firebox are not parallel to each other. There is ½ inch gap because the weld made some distortion. It´s a bit pain in the ass to weld stainless becouse of the heat distorsion. I may have to cut firebox loose and try again :emoji_grimacing:

What would you do?

I will take more pictures

Wow! I love it. A work of art. I was a machinist when I was young, and I play with welding little. It is so cool seeing other peoples designs. Yes, that stainless warps very easily. I can't wait to see the finished work smoking away.

I think you’re doomed to repeat the problem unless you can brace it laterally (like with an angle bracket off of the bottom of the CC or to your future support structure, because the contact area is fairly small. That being said, if you tack something to the CC bottom that you can put a bottle jack against, and put some sort of a heavy plate between the piston and the FB so you don’t dimple it, it will probably jack up square and you can weld in a brace to keep it there...

Operation "butt lift" is completed :emoji_grimacing: I didn't have to make any cuts, just bend it with jack

Tag welded firebox to the beam and bend little bit over first

Then angle support (crappy welds because it was difficult position, i´ll fix them later)

Bolt and washer to hold cheap chinese sh...wheels. Wheels have nylon bushings so they won't need any bearings

Finally, it stands without support :) Front leg is not weldet yet.
