I noticed there is no smoke ring on the point I chopped up, so I'm expecting the same with the flat. The last time I had an amazing smoke ring when I used Royal Oak lump. I used Kingsford Original briqs this time as they were on sale at Wally-World.

Just an Interesting note.
Oh sure, it's the charcoal's fault.

I can say I get a better smoke ring with lump. Humphreys lump to be specific.

This site makes me really REALLY not like being stuck in India!!  Two more weeks.  Not sure I'll make it.

Good looking brisket.  I can ALMOST smell it but it seems to have a hint of Masala.

Duke sorry for being late That looks great.I use KBB all the time and never had a problem with getting a smoke ring

Thanks Richie! Looks like there was a smoke ring on the flat, just not as pronounced.

.  A big Thanks to you DukeBurger as well, I just got back form the meat sale you let me know about, Picked up a couple briskets and pork butts for pulled pork and to make some sausage with my father in law. Its going to be a good spring.

Thanks!

Good to hear you took advantage of that, those kind of sales are kind of rare around here. I might have to go grab another brisket!

Made some brisket beans on Sunday.

Simmered up some diced onion, garlic and bell pepper in the cast iron dutch oven while I boiled a cup of dry navy beans for an hour. Tossed the navy beans in with a can of Bush's with a hand full of burnt ends and some of the chopped up flat. Poured a beer in there and some tomato paste and let the whole deal simmer for a couple hours. During the last hour I put in about a cup of BBQ sauce.

These turned out excellent!
