I decided ti try Turbonado sugar in my rubs instead of white or brown sugar, to see if it helps with the appearance of smoked meats after the long smoke(darker/burning from regular sugars).

Does the amount change when using this "raw" sugar. In other wards, is a 1/2 cup of Turbonado the same as 1/2 cup of regular?

Thanks for any info!

It s all we use in our rubs. It doesn't burn like most of the sugars and I like the taste alot better in the rubs.

I have used the turbinado in desserts but not rubs. I will have to give it a try.

Looks like the raw sugar is the stuff. I'll use it this weekend. Thanks for the input folks!
