Oh ,,, same here . I had that cheap Char griller offset that had a manual charcoal grate . Best steaks ever . Been thinking on an adaption for a weber kettle . I've been thru bumper jacks , screw jack for pipe scaffold , scissor jack . I have a set of hinges from a live well on a fishing boat . That design might work out of steel . I pretty much aborted the idea . Lol .

Yeah, I scratched my head for weeks trying to design something I thought would work (never got there lol). Finally realized I'd be better off just buying the darn thing!
