In 2017, I had our kitchen completely remodeled. The cabinets came with soft close hinges. After about a year or so, many didn't work. The contractor came and replaced them, but another year or so after that, many quit working again. I just gave up on them.

Question now is there a hinge that will last longer? I am hoping that a manufacturer somewhere has come up with one that will last longer than a year or so...

I like the soft close drawer slides , but never been a fan of the hinges . Maybe yours need to be readjusted from wear ? Check to make sure the problem doors are aligned properly . Any bind / resistance at all can keep them from closing .

I can't think of any brand off hand that is any better than any other.

Like @chopsaw not a fan of them but for possibly a different reason. As a painter once cabinetry was hung and adjusted I had to take it back down to bring to the booth to shoot them. Without fail when it was time to rehang I would have to fiddle with the adjustments to the point of insanity!

The hinges that I had put on mine are going on 8 years now without an issue. These were a upgrade. If I don't forget. I'll try to see if I can get some info on them when I get home.

We put them in our kitchen when we remodeled 7 years ago, and the cabinets we use the most, I have had to re-adjust and replace quite a bit. The drawer slides are fine, but the hinges I would not do again, and stick with standard hidden hinges.

As for alignment, the doors are fine, they just slam shut. Is there an adjustment for the soft close part?

Same here. Drawers work fine, but the cabinets we use most don't...

I was thinking more an adjustment on the alignment side of things , causing a binding problem .
Some of the hinges are " switched " so you can turn off the soft close function .
Look fo an arrow or some kind of indicator on the hinge . Maybe they got swithched off if it has that option .

Well ,,, been thinking since I read that ,,, " Don't close the door so hard " Lol . Then started thinking some more ,,, took a look , and I have them on mine . Ha ! Never even gave it any thought . Been in this house 20 years . Mine trigger about 2 " from the face frame . Slow , then close about a 1/2 " off the frame .

I love soft close hinges . Geez ,,, some Carpenter .

Sorry they are not doing what you want htem to do.

Rich @chopsaw has you covered if they are marked to reset.

My problem with mine are that Mona and her mom don't know how to close cabinet doors at all, they just leave them open, its like living with little kids , and not because they are really short, lol 😠😠

Parents had the same issue and we went down that rabbit hole. For them, the issue was not enough hinges installed for how large of doors they had. Long solid hickory doors. MFR rec's said they should have 3-4 not just the 2.

Most of the off brand are not very reliable, I have had good luck with Blum hidden pocket soft close but be warned they aren't $ they are $$$$. The ones I have the soft close can be turn off or on with a pocket lever.
