Checked the weather today and it is going to be BEAUTIFUL this weekend!

So I'm (at the very least) going to smoke a couple of pork loins for my Brother-in law and have 2 corned beef briskets thawing out right now for a few pastrami. I'm sure there will be much more because how could I not smoke with such a beautiful weekend?

How is everyone else doing on the weather/smoke front?
Gonna be nice out for you guys?
Got any plans?

we had a great week but now we're looking at some cold, nasty stuff for the next few days. the closest thing to a bright spot is saturday, wihc is expected to be in the mid-50s and cloudy.

probably won't be doing any smoking this weekend, but if i get a break in the weather, i plan to do some sort of meatloaf and perhaps some spares.

ours is just a bit off time, good wednesday to friday rain from saturday to tuesday

Tonight and Tuesday a few showers are called for, but the weekend mostly sunny.

I did up 25lbs (raw weight) jerky last weekend, and doing up another 25lbs this weekend. Between the ladyfriend, her 12 year old and myself that won't make it that long. Plus if you add my fishing outtings and fishing buddy/buddies... I am in trouble if it doesn't make it to our halibut trip May 21!!!

Going to do up some CBP teriyaki jerky, and also some of my special marinade/cure which I did up on the stove last night and letting the flavors meld together til it is time to put in the beef slices. london broil on sale $1.99 a pound and my butcher firsts trims up the LB roast no fat on the outside, and steaks it... none of the fat included in the the final weighing. He did that the last couple of times... so this time when I went in and got the 25lbs, I brought in some jerky and CB for him as a tip!

May you find peace in the TBS this weekend,

Sunday I am going to a KCBS judging class, so no home smoking that day. Now Saturday is going to be a pork butt. Haven't done one since last June.

80's today, and tomorrow so:

mowing the lawn tonight so I have all day tomorrow to relax, and fire up the smoker, and my new Weber kettle grill.

I am doing 2 slabs of babybacks, one on the smoker doing the 2-2-1 method, and one rack on the Weber to give it a test run. Also doing armadillo eggs, and baked beans on the smoker.

Temps are gonna be great....high 70's both sat and sun....HOWEVER comma the wind is going to be steady at 20-25 with gusts up to 40 on both days. GRR... probably won't fire up the smoker.

Yep, another nasty stretch here. Almost 2" of wet heavy snow on the ground, and no signs of letting up, temps won't be that bad, 30's-40's light wind though...do-able for an all-nighter on a 9.2# Picnic Shoulder.

Forecast is for bad to mostly crappy weather here through moday night, and then some. Oh, well, I'm ready this time and have my ambitions running high!

Eric
