Has anyone ever heard of smoking a turkey with a Boston butt the on top rack above of the turkey to let the juices drip on the turkey while smoking? And if so is it worth it? Thanks
Sure no problem I've had all sorts of stuff drip all over each other, good stuff.
You'll have to put the turkey in 3 or 4 hours after you put the pork butt in, cause it'll be about that long before the butt starts sweating.
you may find that your turkey is fully cooked before you get a whole lot of drippings from the pork butt.
Therefore you will find it easier to pan the butt on a rack and baste the turkey with the juices after they've accumulated.
You will also likely need to have some sort of liquid in the pan to keep the pork butt juices from evaporating before you can use them.
Water, oil, butter, juice or a combination.
