I'm curious about smoking whole potatoes. is it really worth it? or is it easier just to bake them? if it is good to smoke them. What is the preperation and how long do they take?

The only way you're going to know if it's worth smoking potatoes to you is to smoke them and see. They are very easy, just wash, oil, season and throw them on the smoker. Depends on the size of the potato as to how long it will take. The ones I did the other night took about 3 - 3 1/2 hours. My kids love them smoked.

I have done smoked baked potatoes in the smoker and I thought they tasted great. They had a nice smoke flavor to them. But everyones tastes are different.

As you can read everyone here including myself have smoked potatoes before and we all like them so think about it we smoke alot and we like smoked potatoes. Yes potatoes are very good smoked and yes you do get the smokey flavor.

We love smoked potatoes - one word of caution - do not pierce them with a fork or kinfe like you normally would - it make them turn black where you pierced them.

I love the red ones rolled in some olive oil and kosher salt then into the smoker - test them by hand after about 2 1/2 hours depending on size

Times are gonna vary based on your rig - mine cant go past 250 so it takes a little longer

Chicken is ready to go into the smoker in 30 min - now I gotta add some taters too - mouth is watering
