Ah, the eternal debate about the degree of peat "smokiness" in a single malt Scotch. I agree with you that it can get overwhelming. I prefer a lighter peaty touch, but do enjoy the occasional dram of Laphroaig once in a while.To each their own, but I've never cared for adding smoke to drinks. That's why I avoided scotch for years as I was introduced to the ones that taste like ashtrays. Had me a few glasses of Glemorangie 12 last night. Yum.
I agree. Not everything that can be smoked should be smoked, but to each his/her own. Apparently, there's a real market for booze smoking tools.Why ruin a nice bourbon in my opinion. I am not a big smoke hound like a lot of people though and dont need smoke on everything. If you like it then that is all that really matters.
