Here's before pics of a couple Butts I'm smoking today for my neices graduation party tomorrow. I'll give some after pics once they're done!

Looks like a great start, I be waiting for the finished product.

Ok, I have a dumb question. I should know this, but for the general 1.5 - 2 hours per pound rule, does this include the rest time on a butt, or do I need to figure an extra or two? Just trying to get my timing as close to right as possible. Thanks.

Congrats on the graduation, and definitely the right call doing the butts the day before. Looks like they will be delicious.

No it doesn't. Plan on the extra time.

Thanks everyone for the compliments. It turned out pretty well I must say and my neice is pretty excited to be wrapping up school.

We'll the party is today so it hasn't been eaten yet minus several bites from me and the family once I pulled it off the smoker yesterday. LOL!

I probably left these on a touch too long so they were a bit more tender than I was aiming for, but the flavor was really good. I'm constantly second guessing and tweaking my recipes and processes with each time I smoke.

You hear so many tips and tricks of things that I haven't tried that it's hard not to test them out.

Great to see a fellow “newbie” turning out such a great product! Your party guests are gonna be spoiled, haha

Good luck. I’m sure that everyone will love it.
Be sure to put any juice you had leftover back into the meat as you warm it up so it doesn’t dry out.
I would put it in a pan with the juices and warm it slowly like at 170 until warm.

Good luck!

Thanks for the tip. I'll do that. This will be the first time I've reheated an entire cook the next day. Usually I'm eating everything right off the smoker and only reheating a few leftovers.
