I have decided to buy a new smoker since my Pit Boss Pro went down. I have narrowed it down to the Smokin' It 3 and the 3D. I am concerned about how long the digital controls will last compared to the Analog Control system. I do like the fact that the 3D will go up to 325 degrees, and keeps the temp inside with in 3 degrees. Wondering if anyone on here can speak to the durability of the Smokin' It 3D Model. Thanks

Welcome! No help, but here are a couple threads that may provide some info.

You could certainly buy the analog version and in the future add an Auber PID, there's a full tutorial for rewiring the analog for adding an Auber on the Smokin-It website and it looks amazingly simple.

Thanks for your reply. If I did that would it be able to get up to 325 degrees with the heating element the model 3 has in it.

M MTscout absolutely, the elements in both the analog and digital are the same (1200 watts). But.....

....right now Smokin-It has a promotion for the month of October (ends on the 31st) where they're including a free Bella smoke generator and a sausage bar if buying a digital or wifi model.

A couple things to think about before the end of the month.

I currently own a #3 analog. No complaints this thing is built like a tank. The analog works perfectly for ribs, pulled pork etc. But I also have the Auber PID that I can also hook up when I need more low stable temperatures for cheese, fish, sausage, salami etc. I have tried them all and I am older now and getting lazy so this is more like set it and forget it for me. There are a lot of new ways to people have come up to prepare meat as well that I have used. Like starting thing in the smoker and finishing it on the grill. Or using a sous vide in combination with this smoker. And don't forget the owner of the company Steve Lamier. Steve is great guy to work with if you need advice or help on his products. He is very accommodating. Enjoy!
