Didn't think this was a thread to start in "Poultry", so here it is. Seen a few ? about smoking on gas grills. I do all my fish the way I'm doing the yardbird. Front burner on low, foil pack of cherry chips over the low flame, and the meat in the back. My grill gets to 300* with one burner on low. Chick brined, rubbed, and olive oiled.

I use a smoke box from wally world on my gas grill. Like I always say use what you got, till you can get what you want.

i use either cheapo tin loaf pan from walmart or wherever..or can use a disposable aluminum style with a chip pouch made from alum foil..works fine....i put in as i preheat grill to get smoke rollin....

That's a fine looking chicken Geoff! I don't think any smoker anywhere could have done it better. Looks like the skin is crispy too. Wouldn't mind putting a tooth (or two) into that thing just to make sure it's good to eat.
 
My first 3 smokes were on my Ducane gasser. They do produce a great bird!
