I have built a wood smoker out of t&g pine boards I have it running a pid from auber 1100 watt hot plate burner gutted and the outside temps was 32 the highest temp I could reach was 200 is it safe to go higher temps the smoker is a 20"x20"x4' should I go with a bigger element and if so any suggestions and was losing
A lot of heat and smoke can I use silicone to seal some of the leaks ? Here is a pic if you check out my other post you can see more pics

You could use high temp silicone in clear on the outside seams.... I just bought some from Rutland... 500 deg...  or on the inside with any color.....  For the door, wrap the door with saran and silicone the stops.....   Seal the bottom well also.... See how the bottom and door works before sealing the individual boards....   Air flow is very important when smoking.... so air tight is not necessarily a good thing...    Dave
