Does anyone out there know if using smoking grates coated with ZINC [ NSF food safe dry ] instead of traditional chrome is safe to do? These are wire shelves from a common kitchen rack.

Do not use grates that are zinc coated. At high temps noxious gas is released. Stick with steel, stainless for grates.
