does anyone know where i can get a rope gasket to seal around the lid of my COS?  I would prefer to go to a store than order online but if i have to I can order it.  Also aside from fire bricks does anyone have a good insulation idea to keep the heat in the smoker for the smoke chamber?  Any help would be appreciated

Have you checked wood stove dealers. I have seen that rope sold by the yard in different diameters at those places. For instance there is a place in Chelsea that sells it.
