Smoker from Wood

I was watching TV and saw this show where someone had a smoker made from wood. Is that possible? If so, how do I do it?!!

For hundreds of years smoke houses have been made of wood with dirt floors. A smoke house is just a shed with a source of cool smoke and a vent in the roof (if needed) and racks or ropes to hang meat from.
