First off, im new to the forum and glad to be here.

I'm building a 4x2x4 pine smoker. I think all together I have about $100 in it and it's almost ready to a trial run. The only question I have is prior to lighting it up, should I season the inner walls with anything? butcher block, veg oil?

pic uploaded of just the frame. I'll post more if it interests y'all. thanks

You can use a light coating of some spray oil. Canola works pretty well.

Go ahead and post the rest of the pics. Pretty sure everyone would love to see what you created!

IMG_0371 (2).jpg IMG_0397.jpg I use nothing other than heat and then smoke, lots of smoke. I heat the smoker up to 300 degrees for some time (hour) to insure it is good and dry then I smoke it empty with apple, oak for a day.

Nice build... Double walls... Good amount of smoke on the interior... You are ready... Hit it....

I'm still building on mine. it's not as...professionally done (if that's the right wording) as kesmc27's, which is a really nice build, but it should do the trick.

My thoughts are that since the fire source is going to be inside the smoker, centrally placed, and not an outside box that I should have 2 exhausts with dampers. being it's 4' wide it would help directionally pull more or less smoke over certain foods. Is this accurate or overkill lol?

Your house looks very fine and will for sure do what you want it to! Your thoughts are also accurate. always easy to open a vent if you have it but impossible if it is not there. Vent are great control. Cannot see by my pictures but I have one on the bottom door by the burner and two on the top of the cabinet. All adjustable. You can see the top one in this photo, there is one on the back in the same place and on in the bottom door.

Nice build. I am building something similar. Only electric. Waiting on a few parts before the trial run.
