I love to smoke sea salt when I'm doing my butts. It's a great way to have a wood flavor on other dishes. I've had good luck smoking peppers to grind for rubs. Peppercorns are great smoked too, actually I got in to smoking meat because I would smoke alot of herbs and spices to use in my dishes...Hmmm. I'm like the mad scientist - lurking around to find stuff to put on the smoker! LOL! If the neighbor's cat doesn't stop pissing on EVERYTHING in my yard his butt will be the next one on the smoker!

LOL, put some smoked salt on his tail !

Kidding aside, I just put 4 hours of Hickory smoke on some salt with my A-MAZE-N-SMOKER (cold smoker), but I took it up to about 150˚. That smoked salt is awesome!!!

Haven't tried smoking any other spices--------YET !

Don't laugh Jeff!
I expect somebody will chime in here, telling Cheryl how good "Smoked Cat Butt" is----Probably one of the same guys who want to smoke the cute little meatless Chipmunks.
