A friend of mine has (had) a pillow filled with cherry pits. Heat for 2 min in the microwave and it is a heating pad. Push the button one too many times (22 min) and every smoke detector in the house goes off and the smell will last for weeks.

Maybe I should give that a shot! I swear I thought it was safe now I don't have to redo the bathroom!

I use a glass bowl.

My brother in law caught his on fire once. Not pretty.

You could have been a statistic...... close one....
It was the second 2 minutes that did it., I normally place them in  a preheated MES while i am prepping the meat, just didn't have time this time.I might add it was sweet grapevine pellets mixed with pecan, I think I invented a new air freshener for the house,it still smells sweet this morning when I got up. lesson learned.

I used Tupperware once...melted it. Several fine folks here suggested a paper plate.
Also had a pile of smoldering pellets once. I zap them for 45 second intervals with a 3 minute rest between. I also stir them up between nuking cycles...

yep, I think that is a good method on doing it.

As of yet, about 10 smokes on my 12" AMNPTS, I've never had any problems lighting or keeping lit. Never dried my pellets. 30" gen 1 MES.
