I have been fishing a lot this summer, but we still got to eat 😄 So armed with my #8 LEM and stocked up on $1.87/lb brisket (thanks tallbm tallbm ), I decided it was time to do some smoked burgers.

Pretty simple, just 6 oz. burgers made into patties seasoned with coarse salt and fresh cracked pepper...

Onto a Weber set up for indirect cooking with some oak...

Got to have some cheese...extra sharp cheddar on some and smoked Gouda on some. But not everyone likes cheese, so a couple without...

I like caramelized onions on mine...

And a toasted bun...

I intentionally didn't tell my crowd anything about the burger, but I had a couple of people ask what was different. They could taste a difference and thought those were the best burgers they had ever eaten. In the end, I told them what they had eaten. Just find it interesting that without any suggestions or influence from me, they knew something was different and better...

Thank you all for them compliments. This was an experiment to see if my own ground beef, from brisket no less, really did taste noticeably different from store bought. It's easy to say "I can taste the difference" when you know there's a difference, but not knowing is something else. My little experiment worked well. The next trial will be with grilled as opposed to the smoked, more to come...

Burgers look fantastic!!
Reminds me of a story from my wife's family. I'd dug an old cast iron skillet out of her mother's basement and asked her if I could take it home and restore it. She said that would be fine and then said "That's the old skillet we used to take to the trout stream. We'd set up camp along the bank. The boys would fish and the girls would cook up the fish in that skillet over the campfire. We'd bring bacon just in case. Boy, we made a lot of bacon sandwiches in that skillet!"

You got some fish cooking posts in another forum? Would like to see some.
I'ld cook a lot more fish if I lived close to the coast.
Used to do a lot of fresh water fishing, but it's been a long time.
