Smoked Beer

I used to live and work in Bamberg, Germany (for 5 years). Home of the Schlenkerla...where their specialty is Rauchbier (smoke beer). It's great stuff.

The problem with it is you can't switch back to a pilsner afterwards because all you taste is the smoke flavor. This is easily remedied by simply sticking with the rauchbier.

Some brewers add liquid smoke to their beer, but they need to make sure it's pure liquid smoke with NO additives.

I brew my own, but I buy the (already) smoked grain from Germany. But since I bought myself a WSM for Christmas I guess there's no reason why I can't/shouldn't be smoking my own grain. All I have to do is get the right wood.
