smoke n grill anyone mount a charcoal grate

So I have a smoke n grill and added an external thermometer because the stock one is trash, but I'm trying to fix the burn times and was going to add a Weber charcoal grate. Has anyone mounted one correctly and if so how difficult was it. I'm not doing full mods I want it to not look like it was hacked apart for when I do sell it, but I figured maybe mounting screws or bolts would help with slight elevation just not sure how difficult it would be
