Might be the wrong place for my question, but I`ll ask here anyway.

Has anyone ever taken the side burner off of a gas grill and used it as the heat source for a smoker?

My last 3 grills have all come with a side burner that I have never used.

My grills were never so far from the kitchen that having a place for a pot of beans made sense for us.

The thing just sits there, doing nothing and annoying the hell out of me.

Just wondered if anyone ever took an ECB or an electric smoker whose element burned out or just built a smoker from the ground up with a scavenged side burner for it`s heat?

Anyone?

As long as there's a regulator with good connections, sure. Heck strip out piezoelectric starter and rig it up. Buddy did one for a charcoal starter set up. Works great. Soap your joints.
Thanks for the reply.

That thing has sat, unused and bugging me for a few years now.

It sits there mocking me.
