I was a taxidermist for 33 years and retired from it after the 2023 season. It’s not a big shop at only 550 sq ft and my dream was to fix it up when I retired so it wouldn’t become a junk room.
Some before pics when it was a working shop.

Time to start cleaning everything out. I did tutor two individuals before I started the renovation and did keep enough equipment to continue to do my own personal projects.
IMG_7396.jpeg

Everything pretty much cleaned out.

We decided to line the wall with 8 inch pre finished Pine T&G with matched ends.
IMG_7445.jpeg

My wife was able to help which was greatly needed. We started putting up wood the middle of July and had it done in about 5 weeks.

The garage door you seen earlier was covered up on the inside to make it more efficient both looks and energy and to make the room to come together.

The back room I installed garage cabinets to keep things organized.

In all honesty this would be were all my whitetail mounts would go😎 I still need to add a tv, a small refrigerator, chair and still need to change out the lighting.
Last year’s buck that I finished up yesterday.

East wall same room and where the tv will go

West wall

All three of my kids have a mount but my daughter said she was keeping hers. The two older boys said I could hang theirs in the back room so heavens yes I accepted.

This was a very rewarding project and a dream come to.
Thanks for looking

That all looks great. I loved the look of your working shop with the mounts on the carts and walls.
Love how you have the mounts actually have more character, or more natural look to them. Very cool

Now your new digs, really nice, I love the look of pine , always have . Built my first kitchen in soft warm Knotty pine ( my wife thinks it looks unfinished ) but she is a little crazy anyways. lol

Nice that you are keeping your mounts , that is a very nice space .

That is a room of beauty. Amazing transformation. Shout out to your wife for the help too. I'm picturing a nice recliner or two in corner.

Very very nice.
My father's regret was separating two bucks with locked horns that he humanely dispatched.
In hind sight they should have been shoulder butchered and hauled out in 3 pieces. That would have been the ultimate (corner) wall mount trophy.

What caused the drywall damage? I hope you sealed it before paneling over.

Fueling Around Fueling Around , this is a locked mount of 2 bulls that was found in many many years ago in our area. This mount hangs at our local Elks Lodge. Been one of my favorites since I was a kid

I had some water resistant paneling that was glued to the wall and don’t know the exact name of it. Restaurants and some businesses put it on for easy clean up.
It was installed where I did the tanning of skins and the only way to remove it was to tear it off.

I'm staring at this photo waiting for them to come to life and start singing a Disney song. :emoji_wink:
