I have been smoking for years and played with offset smokers and a vertical propane, both on the cheap side. So I found an Old Country Over Under smoker on Craigslist for $150. Fire box is a little rusty, nothing a grinder wire wheel and some high temp paint won't clean up. The problem is... it has sat for a while with no use. The old seasoning on the walls has dried out and falling off. It needs a deep clean. Whats the best way to clean and re-season?

Thanks in advance!

Rent a pressure washer or find someone with a dustless blaster.
Or a grinder with a wire wheel and some elbow grease.

You can just wire brush off the parts that might fall on your meat. The rest will fall off naturally as it feels the heat, steam and grease.

I re-season my Lang once or twice a week after pressure washing it out when it's run daily. I use a leaf blower to get rid of most of the water, hit it with a propane weed burner to dry off and warm up all the steel then a light coat of aerosol cooking oil on everything.

Fire it up to 300* and it's like new again.
