Scored some Maple wood!

I was on my way back from picking up my younger Brother from work and noticed a tree all cut down in a little side neighborhood.
I wasn't sure what it was so I turned around and checked with the guys.
They said it was maple and take all I wanted!

AWESOME!

So I went and got my Dads old van (no pick up but this is what we use) and went out to grab some wood.

Sorry the pics are blurry, it was dark when i took them.



Going to cut some of the smaller pieces into chunks and hopefully I can use them in 3-4 months.

I have a silver maple in my back yard that must be 100' tall. I get all sorts of large limbs crashing down each year. And i have them cut up and stored for firewood. I dont know much about these trees. Is there a difference between the wood of a silver maple and a normal maple tree when it comes to smoking with it??
