One of my surrogate hunters called and informed me that I got an 8 point buck saturday. I don't have any idea what the size was but it was big enough that he is having the head mounted. So I will have a load of deer meat in a few days. I was also watching craigslist and found a new kitchenaid epicurean 6 qt 475 watt mixer for 65.00 what a deal!! I have been looking for a mixer for awhile now.Sorry no pics of the deer but here is the mixer.

Can't wait for the deer meat to make summer sausage and the mixer will be great for bread next weekend.

Congrats on both! Just curious, what is a "surrogate hunter"? i mean, I get that it's one who hunts on your behalf, just not sure how that works. Is this a usual thing? Do you hire someone to do it?

I can honestly say my Kitchenaid has completely changed my life. Used to be a chore to make bread or sausage. (got the grinder off craigslist too) Now it's a weekly occurrence. We'd looked for a deal for years, and finally found one for $75 on craigslist. Ours is the 300 watt tilt head model. With that bowl lift model, you'll be able to use the spiral dough hook which looks like it does a much better and quicker job with bread dough.

I have a couple of friends that love to hunt but normally only take 1 deer as they don't want that much meat. I asked them this year if they would get one for me and I would pay for processing and  extra expenses if they had any. So far 1 buck and lots of hunting season to go.Looking forward to trying the mixer out next weekend with some bread. Next on the list is the grinder attachment.
