Have not bought a chuck roast in long time due to prices. I pulled my last one from freezer couple days ago. Plan was to make Sauerbraten with it. Now I thinking Corned Beef which I also not had in long time. I know chuck not traditional for either dish but will work. What are your votes?

I'd prefer pulled beef, but with your two choices Brian. I'd go with corned.

Sounds like going to go with Corned Beef. Thanks for replies. Going to have to find Wayne's, thirdeye thirdeye recipe. If I remember done it before and turned out good. I remember someone saying something about using a pork butt to make sauerbraten. Might have to try that next time I get a butt.

Got Wayne's brine simmering for Corned Beef. Remembered to toast the spices this time. Man that smells good!

Seems like longer than I week I started this. In the past I just corned for a week but I see where Wayne lets his go 14 days. No sure when this ice going to melt to get to store to get cabbage anyway. Learned last year even when roads clear Albertson parking lot still a sheet of ice the hard way! Need to decide on how to cook this? Leaning on just using the slow cooker?
