Sorry but when I saw this thread the only thing I could think of was Forrest Gump.
If you're coming through TX and will be anywhere close to Austin, lemme know. We can hook up somewhere or you can spend some time here at the house on the patio with Tracy and I. I'd be happy to put together a really nice meal for you. You can make it an overnight stop if you want.I’ll be driving from California to Alabama
Whacha got Brian? I might make the trip to AL to pick it upWanna tow a smoker from CA back with you? I can meet you in AL to pick it up
I have my smoker that's on a dual axel trailer that is still in CA.If you're coming through TX and will be anywhere close to Austin, lemme know. In Alabama, try Dreamland.
Picked up about 7 or 8 bottles of rub and loke 5 bottles of sauce to try out. The only problem is if I like it how the heck am I ever going to get anymore lolHate you werent feeling well on the trip back. But glad you got to sample BBQ in different areas of the country. Did you get sauces?
Jim

If it’s not in Decatur it’s just outside of it.Big Bob Gibson's barbecue in Alabama. I think it's in Decatur, but not 100% sure. I can Google it. His sauce won world's best.

Sorry to hear you got sick, but it still sounds like a fun trip.

BTW: I can't believe a vehicle with California plates made it thru unscathed traveling in the deep south. I would have suggested a bullet proof vest.
Wife’s hospital was short of skilled nurses so they recruited from Europe. There's a lot of California license plates around here, they're moving here in droves.
I thought it was really really good. I think they thought I was crazy. On the drive up there I was looking at the menu showed you can order by the half pound or pound. I was going to sit in the restaurant but you can only order that way to go.How did you like this place ? I thought it was the best in the Memphis area
Definitely a good trip lotta time on the road that’s for sure. I tend to blend in wherever I go. Had no front plate and was pulling a trailer so it wasn’t very visible plus it’s a Ford diesel truck. I’m a bit rough looking and trust me I was prepared for anything and everything traveling if you know what I meanSorry to hear you got sick, but it still sounds like a fun trip.
