Hello SMF members!
I hope y’all had a great 4th of July! We had a blast with our families & friends up north in Michigan at a lake cabin near manistee.
I wound down our vacation Sunday at Wonder Dog Ranch with some
Dog training, and some more Q on the newest smoker in my collection the wsm. I think I’m starting to get the hang of this thing!
Once again I was busy so not enough pics. But with the exception of one time I walked away for an hour and the wsm dropped to 197 degrees the smoke went smooth. The drop was my fault as I was busy and walked away right after closing the vent a bit because the temp was up around 245 and I wanted to cool it down a bit.
Left the ribs on a half hour longer than normal to make up for this temp drop. Seemed to work out.
Ole Hoop guarding the wsm & enjoying the July sun.
Not a lot to do while the smokers doing its thing so a little training time is in order. The dogs never seem to mind how hot it is.
Finishing the chicken half on the grill to crisp up the skin.
Baby backs, chicken, and wrapped taters and onions fresh off the smoker & grill.
Nice shot of the feast ready to serve.
Plated with the usual audience. Nothing new around here. Wife made some pasta salad and beans to go with the Q.
This set of progression pics from yesterday show just how hard Hooper goes. She does it every time with zero quit.
This is exactly why I couldn’t take her to the cabin over the 4th holiday. She’d over do it the first day and I’d be back to square one with the injury.
It’s been about 2 months with little to no training so I figured I’d ease her back in with a little water work. We will see how she’s getting along when I get home from work today. Hopefully no limp.
These pics are pretty impressive. They show the dogs will and this Is just training at the ranch. It’s even more impressive when waterfowl are raining down from the sky.
Thanks for checking out this thread.
