i tried a bag today & yesterday ..i bought 2 8.8lb bags( well i only used 1/2) well on the brink snp i started a fire yesterday w/ out my water pan- 1/4 bag took it to375 real quick.(45 mins- was back to 200 in an hour point 5)- i had plans so i let it go w/ lid closed.. virtually no ash...today w/ 25 lbs meat on the pit it was a bit slower.. still great heat & doesn't take much...plus i had the water pan for regulation- a turkey pan w/ approx 1/2 gal water & chix rippings.8.8lb bag will last the heat & the type(4-8lb shoulder) but it has no flavor whatsoever....and it burns off hot & quick.
