reverse flow plate weld?

Does the plate in a reverse flow smoker need to be welded in(airtight) or can it just be sit in on some angle?

Building a smoker and getting ready to put plate in but want to do it right 1st time.

It can sit on angle.... If need be, place a hydraulic jack on the plate and push down, then spot weld it in... The welds may pop as the plate expands... you can also bolt it in.... oversize the holes to allow for movement.... then it can be removed...

We weld angle inside the CC for the RF plate to sit on, That way you can remove it if need be.

Gary thanks that's what I started to do just wanted to make sure it was ok...I guess pretty much anything will work if set up right..

I built 3, but my next one will be like Gary S did and will be removable.

I like removable, since it rest on angle and butts up tight never saw and need to weld, ours work great.
