Hello all… first time poster long time watcher.    I have been working on a small rev flow for the past few months.     I used a 30 gallon air tank for the main cooking chamber, a 30 lbs  propane tank for the firebox.    Used a old bed frame to build the legs and a basketball pole as the air intake and exhaust.     Learned a few lessons along the way…   Already build a couple of test fire’s and it holds 225 -250 temps very well.   Takes quite a while to heat up to temp… about 45 min, but it has been very cold every time I have tested it.    Still need to add a shelf and some paint.   Here is a page with some pics of the build so far.

Scott, do you have a open spot on the opposite end of the firebox to let the smoke travel back to the stack. In the pic it looked like the plate was up against the wall. Looks like a good build and good recycling of steel products.

I do believe you have noticed a problem, I dont see an opening either. I am confused.

Hello all, yes there is about a 3 - 4 inch opening.  If you look at the top pic you can see both ends are rounded.   Then the bottom pic shows the reverse plate.   The left is rounded to match the tank, the right is straight, leaving the rounded end open for the flow  On the right you can also see the dam I installed so the draining goes down the drain and not underneath the reverse plate.   I agree the pics can be deceiving

Looking foward to getting a few slabs of ribs going on it... I have only had the throw away firebox smokers from wally world etc...   I still need to get a better thermometer.   Looking into getting a digtial dual prob for the temp in the smoker and a separate for the meat.  The thermo in the pic is off my cheapo walmart.. pretty sure it is not very accurate.
