We had almost 2 weeks of sub zero (that's Fahrenheit) since we got back from our Florida vacation and grilled shrimp indulgences.
Wife wanted a simple grilled burger meal. I was happy to oblige on Tuesday as it barely creeped above zero.

No prep photos.
Press a couple 5-1/2 oz patties and season with salt & pepper. Well almost. My patty got a liberal dust of this blend which WisconsinCampChef WisconsinCampChef sent in the Christmas exchange.

This a really really great seasoning. Outstanding flavor and NO sugar.

On the grill with a pan of onions that I start cooking by putting on the charcoal chimney.

Meat flipped and onions stirred. Coals at full power. This is why cover on the kettle adds to the heat

My plate. Yes the burger is just done. I'm not a pink in ground meat eater.
My wife is the onion eater. That is my serving out the grill pan.
Normally I add a splash of mustard, wanted to try the steak rub naked.
Next cook is more rub and a splash of Worcestershire.

This is charcoal grilled comfort food for my wife.
I agree.

Nice. You got me wanting a Sautéed Onion and Bacon Cheese Burger now....JJ

Looks great to me, at 59+ years young I have found that meat doesn't need to be raw or red in the middle to be tasty or tender , also a sear is nothing more than burnt meat and spices that might taste better not burnt at times, I can eat a steak at any degree but others and wife included hate the color red or pink in meat. I am going to pu some more of the Wagyu burgers at sams and try them again lol

Thanks. Burgers are a great meal and so easy to build to your expectations.
Awesome man, kettles make the best burgers. I don't care what anyone says!
I love my kettle. It should be the first unit in everyone's stable.
Looks great to me!! The snow is stilling coming down here we are suppose to get 3 to 6 inches today.
Richie
Thanks. I will cook in the snow. Temperature is my limiter. I get cold tending the meal.
I bet that hit the spot . I need to fire up some burgers after seeing this .
Thanks. Such an easy and comforting meal to ignore.
Nice looking burgers! Looking forward to some 50 degree weather this weekend.
Jim
Thanks. Be a few more weeks before seeing temps in the 50's.
Nothing wrong with a good old burger off the grill. So even a hotdog would work for that grill taste.
Warren
Looks delicious!

Thanks. After the deep freeze, anything off the grill is appreciated for supper. Lobster tails I planned for Valentine's Day are going on the grill Saturday.
Looks tasty!
Thanks. Think simple and just do it.

When you hit 60 the warranty expires and parts fail. Been learning that life lesson for the past 2 years.
Wife does not like any pink. I also do not overcook into cremation. Pull at nearly done and the meat is great. It requires tending and thus cook's reluctance to stand outside in sub zero temperatures.
I did burgers from the American Wagyu at Sam's a couple months ago. I'm an 80/20 guy and the Wagyu was a bit too lean for our taste to grill. Made a batch of taco meat and it was tasty.
I asked the boss her opinion. She said spend the extra dollars on Prime beef. Next post is last cook with prime beef.

I have cooked and smoked on a lot of platforms.
I used to think an original Kamado was the universal single unit.
Today, if I only was allowed a single unit it would be a 26" kettle.
Can’t beat a burger over a charcoal fire!
Looks delicious!
Al
Thanks. Simple pleasures to deal with winter that keeps us inside
