Hi, all!  I have really enjoyed browsing through SMF and have picked up a lot of good tips already.

I have a New Braunfels Hondo smoker that was somewhat abused in an earlier life.  The two main problem areas are the front handle is pretty rusted thru and the damper is missing.

I have looked online for replacement parts online, and found a few places that carry NB parts, just not the handles and dampers.

Does anyone on the forum have any suggestions?

If I can get these fixed up, I plan on applying some of the other builds and suggestions, since this one leaks smoke like sieve and temp is difficult to maintain.

Thanks for your time...

Bump to see if someone who knows about your smoker can give you a hand.

I decided to jump in to rebuilding and applying some mods to my smoker.  I just posted some before, during and after pics under the Smokers albums.  Thanks to several threads about mods, paint choices, etc, that I found here on SMF, I got it almost back in working shape.

I still have a couple things to finish - fabricate a new damper for the smoke stack, figure out how to seal the main firebox side door and vent, and find some sheet metal stock for the smoke chamber.

Also hoping to get an electronic thermometer for an early Christmas present, but that is lagniappe at this point.
