Now we all know Dr Pepper is used. Root beer...

And I was thinking 'Has any one tried Cream Soda?'

Any one else do an off the wall soda flavour for an injection and it just super worked?

Never have Tom.
But I have enjoyed many a soda while and when eating, BBQ.

(But I still think beer is a safety device...)

I've used cream soda, rootbeer, and Mountain Dew in place of Dr. Pepper in marinade/sauces before. It's different. It seems much sweeter without the cola. That said, I'd probably do it again.

Main reason soda or "pop" as we call it here Ohio works well is that it contains phosphate. I would say Sprite and 7up would well as an injection base but I would try apple juice before soda since it works so well with pork.

See I'm wondering if the Creamsoda flavour would carry through...

Also...a dilution of pineapple and creamsoda..uh oh. AB got me thinking!

Never tried it, but...The Vanilla flavor should work nicely with Bourbon!

Cream Soda and Bourbon Sauce

1/2C Dark Brown Sugar
1C Cream Soda*
1/3C Ketchup
1/3C Bourbon
1/4C Balsamic Vinegar
2Tbs Soy Sauce
1Tbs Mustard of choice
1Tbs Your Rub
1Tbs Sriracha or Canned Chipotle Adobo Sauce
S & P to taste
* Cola or Ginger Ale would be great too!

Combine all in a sauce pan. Heat over medium heat to a simmer. After 5 minutes, the sauce can be cooled for Injection. For a Glaze or Sauce, continue to simmer, stirring often, until Syrupy. Cool and refrigerate the remaining sauce...JJ

So we got Sonny giving me desires for root beer bacon...

And that looks Amazing Jimmy. I might need to break down and get me some Bourbon to keep on hand.

Maybe some ginger beer mixed with a bit of pineapple and soy? Sounds like it might work in a pork loin
