Thought this was worth posting …

I just completed pretty much a complete rebuild of my RT590. It was about 3 years old. Worked great, until …
Months ago I left it out, uncovered and unused, for well over a week in extremely wet weather. My fault.
When I got back to it, entire hopper and airbox/auger was filled with wood concrete.
After numerous attempts to chisel it out and free the auger I gave up. I called customer service.
I told them the situation and 100% my fault, but what should I do?
They sent me everything- free of charge - airbox, auger, ignitor (and a spare), auger motor … pretty everything except the controller and fan motor.
It had been months with health issues, so just got back to it yesterday. Couldn’t remember at all how I took it apart. wasn’t even sure where I put all the parts. But it sorta came back, and the videos on their site were helpful. Made one call and they confirmed what I thought about something.
Think I need a drink before I fire it up and see what I got wrong.

Quibble all you want about firmware, and temp excursions, and whatever … but I can’t imagine any other manufacturers stand behind their products like this.

Well that is good customer service right there and hope is smokes right and is not "smoked" once you fire it back up!

That's awesome... ThermoWorks ThermoWorks has the same kind of customer service...

I just had a coworker ask me today about an ill Treager Timberline XL... Told him to call CS and see what they say...

Yup, there are a few co's that stand behind their products. Had a very similar self induced 'concrete' issue and the customer support at MAK was very helpful in working with me to finally get the frozen auger/motor assembly removed (via a destructive method) and sending me a complete replacement for free.

Thats why I love them so much. Few companies today will support their customers like this. But when they do they get customers for life.

Ok, I gave up waiting for it to cool down, and did the test drive today. The ”feel like” temp is 111*, but guess I saved on the pellets 🥵

The operation was a success. Worked fine, held 230* rock solid for 6 hours for these StLouis ribs. I put them on a pan/rack in case it glitched and I wouldn’t have to clean before taking it apart again.

NICE! Happy to hear you are back in business!

Yeah, it’s been a long time. Probably gonna binge cook on this for a while.
The Ninja Woodfire did get me through ok. But these ribs were better than any I’ve done on that. The Ninja pellet firebox only lasts about 40 minutes and a bit of a pain to empty and re-ignite.

This is exactly why Rec teq will be what I buy if I ever add a pellet smoker

I'm glad to hear the customer service is so good from Rec Teq. My daughter works at a local Ace hardware store, so I get wholesale + 10% discounted price. Ordered a Deck Boss 800 w/frills today. They'll build it and deliver Tuesday, can't wait to do a few cooks on it. Have two older Weber propane grills that are falling apart (2001 & 2002 models). The store owner has a slightly larger model and says it only takes a few minutes more to warm up compared to propane.

I like that the top temp is higher than my indoor oven, like to do pizza on a baking steel. Also have made pizza on a Kettle Pizza insert for a Weber kettle, just burns a lot of wood to keep it up to temp. This should make outdoor pizza cooks much easier, I'm hoping...

Sounds like a great deal. You’ll definitely enjoy it.
I haven’t tried pizza on mine, but think I will since I am looking at thinning my herd. This is supposed to get to 700* and that should be good enough.
