Hello all. Thinking about going with a Recteq flagship to replace my grill. Any thoughts on it or pros and cons that you have come across with this model? Would you suggest another make/model? Looking to just do some basic grilling but with the option of long smokes.

I have the older model RecTec 1250, it's a great smoker. If you want high-heat/searing grilling, no pellet grill/smoker is the best option. For true grilling, you can't beat a Weber kettle. IMO

Not saying you can't do both with one unit but got to agree, use the right tool for the best results.

Weber SmokeFire does both very well . They are changing the design , and calling it a Searwood .
Same basic idea though . Has an open design that works awesome as a grill , or puts great smoke profile on low and slow cooks .

I have options of electric , charcoal and propane . 90% of the time the SmokeFire gets the call .

Thanks chopsaw. I did see that model and it looks nice. I have an old bradley smoker, which does the job, I tend to smoke more pork shoulders and butts for about 5-7 hours then finished them all in the oven at 250 with some applejuice in the pan.. Works out great so far.

I have the flagship and love it. Got it a few months ago. I recommend getting a smoke tube from amazon in case you want a little extra smoke. The brain and app work great. I can set the two probes for what finishing temp is needed. Only takes a few mins to get to whatever temp you set grill to.

I got the following additions:

The stainless tray. It bolts on easy.
The ceramic mat for easier clean up. Otherwise you should use tin foil over the drip tray
You don't need the heavier duty legs b/c it already comes with it which is great
Next year I will get the smoke box attachment.

Like the others said here about searing, I agree. I didn't buy any of the searing attachments mostly b/c my friend did and said it's not worth it. You can sear using your other grills assuming everyone has a gas grill.

I've already done an overnight brisket with no issues. It's great setting it and going to sleep. The customer service is second to none as well. You will love it I'm sure.

That's a solid plan . Maybe adding a kettle would be a good bet . This is the time of year to walk through Lowes and look for a discounted floor display .
