I have searched through a ton of threads and have read good and bads of what to use. Can one use an oven cleaner and then set the smoker to burn it off like our ovens? I know the smoker does not get as hot as an oven but it's time to clean the inside and I am at a loss here! I also have purple power which I could mix with water and spray inside but unsure of how that would work opposed to oven/grill cleaner.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions/advice....

Tony

I have not cleaned my 1 yearold MES, other than Grates, Water and Grease pan. I would think something like Simple Green All Purpose Cleaner or if you have a Grainger Store, Simple Green Crystal Industrial Strength Degreaser, would be a good choice. Both are Fragrance Free, Biodegradable and so forth. They are less likely to mess with the insulation, steel interior and sensors in the MES. In any event a full re-seasoning will be needed...JJ

I run mine on max temp for several hours...  If the stuff flakes off, I wipe it down with a SS scrubbing pad to loosen the rest of it...  Since using the AMNPS, there is no creosote inside the smoker and no cleaners needed to dissolve it....  When running on max, you may see some smoke coming out of the stack... When it's gone, it should be clean after one more hour....   If you need further cleaning, follow JJ's advice.....  Dave

Thanks Dave and JJ....I was thinking that since there was no creosote, I'd be ok but my has got a lot of use and I wanted to be safe....

Thanks, Tony
