I made my debut a couple of years ago here, but have been rather absent for the last couple of years.  I intend to change that.

Please allow me to re-introduce myself.  My name is Corey, and I live in Cincinnati, Ohio.  I've done some moderate to light smoking, but as I was putting myself through grad school by working two jobs, I really didn't have that much time (read: motivation).  I'm in a better position in life now, and have thrown myself more into cooking.

A couple of years ago I started with a basic Great Outdoors Smoky Mountain (or whatever it is called, I'm on my couch right now and am too lazy to go down and double-check the name) propane smoker.  I started to have problems with the regulator (it was burning too low and I couldn't get it above 100 degrees to save my life) and my wife, who I often refer to as The Bride, purchased me a bigger/better version of the same smoker.  After a little over a year, it started burning too rich and covering everything with creosote, naturally starting this while smoking Thanksgiving dinner.

Frustrated, I haven't really used the thing since then.  But today, this arrived:

I got it from Sam's Club online, it is a 40" and is model 20070211 (it has a 1200 watt element).  With my next paycheck I will be ordering my AMNPS and accompanying pellets.

I promise to be good at Q-view, and have developed a good habit of taking pictures of my cooking process while writing my food blog.  Remember the movie Julie & Julia (you may not have seen it, but hopefully you at least know that it exists)?  I decided to do something like that by cooking my way through Weber's Big Book of Grilling and documenting the process.  If you're bored, you can check it out and see how I document my steps.  To make a long story short, there will be plenty of pics.

I think I've covered the basics...let me know if you have any questions.  I'm very excited about getting to try out my new smoker, and this weekend will be dedicated to figuring it out and "seasoning" it.
